Myanmar is the poorest nation in the world. Because Myanmar is so poor, the churches there lack the resources to enable the work to proceed at a pace which meets the spiritual need of the land.
Myanmar does not allow foreign missionaries to work inside the county, so only nationals can evangelize, plant churches, and train Christian within Myanmar.
There are ways in which you can help.
First, you can pray for Pastor Thaung, Bethany Baptist Church, and the church planters. Share these prayer needs with your church and your brothers and sisters in Christ. This struggle is above all a spiritual struggle and will be won by spiritual means. There is no substitute for prayer. “The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much.” (James 5:15)
You can also help materially. So many aspects of this ministry could expand and grow and be more effective if material needs were met.
- Romans 10:15
For instance, the church planters struggle day-by-day to provide for their families. Yet in Myanmar, it costs only about $100-$200 U.S. dollars per month to support a church planter. This amount includes all his living and ministry expenses as well as rental of a place for him to stay and hold meetings. To those in Myanmar, $100-$200 is a great sum of money.
You can also help support orphans through the Church. For $30 per month, an orphan can be provided the education (including spiritual education), training, food, shelter, and medical attention he or she needs for an entire month.
To partner with Pastor Thaung and Bethany Baptist Church in reaching the people of Myanmar, you may send a gift through Goldenland Baptist Missions. Make your check payable to “Lighthouse Baptist Church” and write “For Pastor Thaung in Myanmar” on the memo line. Send to:
